
The Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, has paid a courtesy call on the Wa Naa, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV, as part of her working tour of the Upper West Region aimed at strengthening collaboration in tourism, culture and the creative arts sector.
During the engagement, the Wa Naa commended the Minister for recognising celebrated Ghanaian cultural ambassador Wiyaala for her efforts in promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Upper West Region on the global stage.
The overlord of the Wa Traditional Area further disclosed that the Wa Traditional Council is considering plans to enstool Wiyaala as a Paramount Queen in honour of her contribution to culture and community development.
Hon. Gomashie also held discussions with Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region, where she urged them to prioritise investment in tourism infrastructure and the development of tourist sites.
According to the Minister, developing tourism has the potential to boost local economies, create employment opportunities and promote the unique cultural identity of the Upper West Region.
She stressed the need for stronger partnerships between local authorities and stakeholders in the tourism and creative arts sectors to unlock the region’s full tourism potential and attract more visitors to the area.
